Urban Design and Master Planning
Master Planning facilitates the considered and controlled development of civic areas including town centres, local neighbourhoods and parks. Design elements planned in this process include buildings, open spaces, transport systems, transit corridors and green spaces like parklands, bush reserves and water courses.
Project Services’ consultants are currently involved in a range of Master Planning activities for schools, housing, tertiary education institutions, parks and recreational facilities for various government authorities and government funded private clients. Project Services’ track record includes involvement in such landmark developments as the Kelvin Grove Urban Village, the Airlie Beach Lagoon and the new Ipswich Motor Sports Precinct.

Urban Design is a related field that overlaps and encompasses Master Planning. Our Urban Design capability ranges from the reconfiguration of neighbourhood parks and adjacent public housing to regional planning projects involving the analysis and planning of large tracts of land. Our urban design expertise also incorporates streetscaping which involves the harmonious arrangement of buildings and landscape elements. The emphasis is on creating more liveable and sustainable streetscapes, through the consideration of street appeal and neighbourhood character. We are involved in the design management of the Department of Housing’s Urban Renewal Program and various special capital works projects.
Project Services will examine all built environment issues relating to a project in the context of longer term commercial, industrial, recreational and environmental objectives. This process ensures that our design decisions facilitate sustainable development that supports sustainable communities.
