Project Services Engineering Expertise Recognised at State Level
23/10/2007

Project Services’ Engineering Expertise Recognised at State Level

Project Services expertise in Building Services engineering was formally recognised at the recent Engineers Australia (Queensland Division) Excellence Awards.

Project Services received a High Commendation in the Research, Development and Innovation category for work completed on the groundbreaking Queensland Tissue Transplant Services Facility.

Located at the Queensland Health Pathology and Scientific Services campus, the purpose built facility is home to the Queensland Bone Bank and other tissue banking services, is an ISO Class 5 (ISO5) world's best practice facility, and an Australian first at this standard for processing of transplant tissue.

The client brief required engineering design for which there were very few examples worldwide.  Consequently much of the design was developed and tested using computer modelling.

The full range of Project Services’ engineering disciplines were involved in the design including:

·                  Fire Protection Engineering

·                  Mechanical Engineering

·                  Civil Engineering

·                  Structural Engineering

·                  Hydraulics Engineering

·                  Electrical Engineering.

Project Services provided the full range of consultancy services including design, cost planning and contract administration.

The Commendation is the fifth industry award for the project. In 2006, Project Services took out top honours in the Construction/Engineering/Aerospace category in the State and National Australian Institute of Project Management Achievement Awards.

RAIA Regional Commendations for Project Services
13/03/2007

Project Services teams in regional Queensland have been recognised at this year's Royal Australian Institute of Architecture (RAIA) regional finals, with two outstanding projects picking up commendations.

On the Darling Downs, the Westhaven Aged Care facility and South Queensland Institute of TAFE were both honoured with commendations.

The South Queensland Institute of TAFE Block B is an environmentally responsive building that makes clever use of water and energy conservation technologies. Featuring a stately library, a refectory and specialist teaching areas, the building's site planning and formal organisation was applauded by judges.

The Westhaven Aged Care facility in Roma is oriented to take full advantage of the semi-rural landscape in a design reminiscent of an outback homestead. Defined by household wings and generous courtyards, the building supports a contemporary model of care.

Judging for the RAIA Brisbane regional finals will take place later in the year.

Redlynch High School Students Move into Brand New School
8/02/2007
The devastation wreaked by Tropical Cyclones Larry and Monica in North Queensland during 2006 failed to stop the new Redlynch middle school opening on time for 240 Year 7 and 8 students.

The $16 million project which took 10 months to construct reached practical completion on the 28th January.

Project Services provided all consultancy services, including the design and tender documentation, project management and quantity surveying during the project.

The new Redlynch middle school campus is the first of a three-staged project.

Stage two will provide schooling facilities for Years 9 and 10 and is scheduled to be completed in time for the start of the 2008 school year.

The third stage will mark the completion of the project and will provide for Years 11 and 12 students.
